Your provider will deliver controlled pulses of light to the treatment area using the Nordlys IPL handpiece. Most patients describe the sensation as a quick, mild snap against the skin. Treatment of areas such as the face, neck, hands, or upper chest can typically be completed in about 30 minutes or less.
Depending on the condition being treated, your provider may also recommend the Nordlys Nd laser for targeted vascular concerns.
The treated skin may temporarily become red or mildly swollen following treatment, similar to a mild sunburn. Makeup can generally be applied afterward to help camouflage redness.
Brown spots may temporarily become darker or rougher before gradually fading. Treated redness and visible vessels may also temporarily appear darker or slightly purplish as the area heals.
The number of treatments needed depends on your skin type, the area being treated, and your specific concerns.
Many patients achieve their best results with a series of treatments. During your consultation, your provider will evaluate your skin and recommend a personalized treatment plan.

- Avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure before treatment
- Begin treatment when your skin is closest to its natural, untanned color
- Follow all pre- and post-treatment instructions provided by our office
